THYROID
Thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland that lies in the front neck just over the trachea. It is an endocrine gland that weighs only 20 to 30 grams on average. This gland secret two important hormones: 13 (Triiodothyronine) and T4 (Thyroxine). These two hormones play an important role in metabolism, growth and mental development. Thyroid gland must function properly throughout the life to keep one healthy. But now-a-days thyroid disease has become a severe problem worldwide.
In Bangladesh, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Chattogram has been providing treatment and services to such thyroid patients for more than 40 years.
There are several problems and diseases associated with thyroid glands. In few cases these disease conditions may turn into thyroid carcinoma. Mostly delayed diagnosis and ignorance are responsible for this. But the positive side is that after proper diagnosis of a thyroid disease, treatments are possible and comparably easy. So any kind of thyroid disease even thyroid carcinoma can be treated and fully cured. Thus, in the long run thyroid patients can lead a normal, happy and healthier life again.
